Hi everyone!
I recently had a brainwave at college after looking at some of Yinko Shonibare's victorian dresses, they had an african twist to them which I thought sent out an ironic message to it's audience

Well anyway, he inspired me to make my OWN victorian dress, whether or not I go with the African pattern designs, I haven't decided yet.

I wanted to keep a log of this projects progress (even though I started it a week ago! Woops :S)

I remember everything I did though, so it's cool

Day 1:
Today I designed my victorian dress! I want it to be an 1880's style bustle dress, when I have time, I'll upload my design and put it on here! (It would help if I had a scanner! Dx)
Oh how unorganised I am XD
I want the colours to be dark, as the theme in my art book is slightly gothic

I looked on the internet and researched on the types of dresses, and bustles which were used in the 1880's, and found a video on youtube which teaches you how to make a bustle! The video was really interesting and useful, it helped me out loads!

It took me about an hour to make the bustle cage, and it turned out quite well, however I removed the middle boning as I kinda messed up that part .

My friend Zeena was kind enough to be my model,luckily enough she's got the skills to act in character when I take the pictures too! But I can only fit the dress on her when we have our lessons together, once a day for an hour, I wish I had more time to fit the dress properly.
